I think about Lacanian perversion a lot when I think about wanting to get ripped specifically after splitting up with somebody. Putting in work but it doesn’t feel like work because it isn’t, it’s a show, right? And you’re, at least in part, putting it on for an audience that might not even be there anymore, but for the enjoyment of relishing in the “what if” of the theoretical audience confronting the difference between the person they left and the person who is in the present and dreading it (which lets be honest they’re probably not) - it’s perverted
